Language Instruction Education Program
The goal of the Shenandoah Valley School District is to provide Language Instruction Education Program (LIEP) for each student whose dominate language is not English for the purpose of facilitating the student's achievement of English proficiency and to meet the academic standards under Chapter 4.12.
Elementary School
The EL student receives academic instruction in English for all content subjects with support from an ESL teacher in the mainstream classrooms. English Language Development Standards are taught to students outside the mainstream classroom with direct instruction in language acquisition through listening, speaking, reading, and writing of English.
Jr./Sr. High School
The EL student participates in a content-based English class taught by an ESL teacher. English Language Development Standards are taught to students outside the mainstream classroom with direct instruction in language acquisition through listening, speaking, reading, and writing of English.
